My wife is blogging now.. are you ?
My wife is into browsing the web, eBay, MySpace, etc and does a pretty good job of getting around the web while she keeps up with our kids around the house.
I was stoked when she mentioned that she had an idea for a site and had a domain in mind and asked if I could help out with getting her site up. From hanging around online way too much with Jim Kukral, the first thing that came to mind was a blog. They are easy to set up, easy to update and sooo flexible. My wife loves to write as well, so a content rich form like the blog seemed like an obvious fit. A bit of time on the WordPress set up and some template browsing later, my wife was a member of the Blogosphere. You can check out her site if you like at www.bigandhealthy.com .
I chatted a bit with Jonathan Miller- our fearless leader and found out that his wife blogs as well - another really nice writer who just needed an outlet.
So - what does this have to do with you and your business? Well - are you blogging ?
If not, you are really missing out in a couple of ways. With a blog, you get a chance to get your companies thoughts, insights, and other information out there in a search engine friendly format and let your customers have the chance to share their feedback and experiences, or even ask questions. Using RSS, you can also make it possible for your site’s fans to subscribe to your content and even the comments on that content without having to fight their email filters. I am able to keep up with a ton of affiliate industry news each day in a few moments through my RSS Reader.
Yes, anyone can blog, but how can you get the most bang for your buck ? If you have a staff that likes to write and has a good feel for how to balance helpful content with blatant selling, you may be tempted to go for it. each day i’m amazed by the quality of new blogs I find! On top of that it’s becoming so easy to blog - have you checked out the new iMac? Comes standard with blogging software that my wife’s using to blog and publish direct to the .mac community!
