Affiliate compensation is a tricky calculation at best, when setting up an affiliate program & few issues evoke as much discussion as the ideal compensation plan.

Pay too little and your program is never going to make it off the launchpad – pay too much and you'll run the risk of no return and an eventual marketing collapse.
